New Denturists in France

There is a real need for Denturists in France to satisfy the lack of offers allowing the fitting of patients and not only in areas of medical deserts.

With the training, you can call on Denturists from November 2023 for your fittings.

However, be careful not to be taken care of by pseudo Denturists who have no right to practice.

The list of recognized qualified professionals will be available on the site from November 2023 and updated with each new graduate session

Objective and need for professional training for recognized dental prosthetists with proven skills in assistant prosthesis in France

Safety for patients and an effective partnership with dental surgeons to avoid numerous disappointments while providing the most disadvantaged with the possibility of access to auxiliary prostheses.

All this to improve everyone's general health.

Studies carried out by dental surgeons paint a favorable picture while other non-stakeholder opinions are more alarming.

Examples below:

First of all, there is the financial barrier to accessing oral care.

Anne Charlotte BAS, lecturer in public health at the University of Paris UFR of odontology, explains that the “zero-cost” system amplifies social inequalities by disfavoring the most deprived.

A recent DREES study provides a projection of the number of dental surgeons in France by 2050. It comes after another study carried out in 2017, as if the question of the demographics of dentists in France constituted a priority. For what ?

WHY IS THE DEMOGRAPHICS OF DENTISTS QUESTIONED?

Regarding dental surgeons, the study lists 42.000 professionals in 1er January 2021. The study highlights that the density of dentists in the French population has been stable since the beginning of the 2010s with around 62 dental surgeons per 100 inhabitants. However, she warns against the big differences that can be observed from one region to another. She explains this stability by a massive influx of foreign or even French dentists who obtained their diplomas abroad. 39% of dentists registered with the order last year therefore hold a foreign diploma.

The increase in dental surgeons does not regulate access to dental prostheses but keeps just access to dental care (main job of the dental surgeon)

Even with an increase in the number of dental surgeons it will not be possible to properly treat and equip the entire population.
As Anne-Charlotte BAS indicates, the most disadvantaged will be less and less supported.

The feminization of the activity of dental surgeons, reducing working hours and therefore the possibilities of care (women having to reconcile a family life allowing them less to work full time) will increase the risks of precariousness of dental treatments.

The activity of Denturist will be able to alleviate part of the problem while offering the possibility of treatment with controlled costs.

By 2070, according to the central scenario, the number:

Le Aging of the population will continue with certainty to 2040.

The proportion of people aged 65 or over in the population would increase from 21% to 29% by 2070, that is to say at the same rate as between 1972 and 2021 (where this share increased from 13% to 21% ).

In 2040, there will be 51 seniors aged 65 or over (mostly retired) for every 100 people aged 20 to 64 (mostly active), compared to 37 per 100 in 2021.

The evolution of this relationship after 2040 is more uncertain; it would deteriorate further according to the central scenario, which estimates it at 57 percent in 100.

State of play of the demographics of dental surgeons

The demographics of active dental surgeons in 2013 at the national level

• The national workforce has doubled since 1970, with an increase above 40 since 000 and relative stability since then, but the density of dental surgeons has been slowly decreasing since 1999.
• The average age is high (48,4 years) and the profession remains predominantly male (60% men) with a nevertheless very significant feminization for the younger generations.
• The exercise is mainly carried out in the outpatient sector (98,2%), in private or mixed practice (90,4%) and in the office.

Dentists trained in Belgium

“I was amazed”: becoming a dentist by training in Belgium, a risky operation

A few kilometers from the border, a new private school offers a course in dentistry, in partnership with a Maltese institution.

About

A private school singled out, but what about other training and studies in other European countries which have diplomas “automatically” recognized by the Council of the Order.

What quality of care for the future???

To avoid the risk of uncontrolled drift, the French Denturist, a competent professional, allows quality work.
with a controlled cost of prostheses and can also equip the most deprived.

To avoid this!

Prosthetists who are not qualified in auxiliary prosthetics follow epithetist training to try to reach the level of Denturist.

The epithetist is a profession which has nothing to do with the profession of dental prosthetist and even less with the qualification of Denturist.

Epithesists are illegal in relation to the qualification of Denturist and risk being prosecuted

The same goes for dental technicians who practice without having the qualifications.

The professional level of Denturist solves all the previous problems of skills and professional level of the 2 professions which were only one originally.
